Nick Nairn (born 12 January 1959, Stirling) is a Scottish celebrity chef.

Work

Nairn has been a regular chef on BBC's popular Ready Steady Cook since the first series in 1994 and in 1990, he became the youngest chef to win a Michelin star in Scotland. A self-taught chef, his attempts to master the culinary arts resulted in the creation of two restaurants – Braeval near Aberfoyle is still in business, however, the other in Glasgow, called Nairn's is no more.

He has presented three BBC cookery series, all with accompanying books. In 2003, he sold his restaurant in Glasgow to concentrate on Nairn's Cookery School and a catering business and to spend more time with his family. He defeated Tom Lewis in the Scottish heat of the BBC television series Great British Menu.[1]

He went on to cook a main course of Roe venison for Queen Elizabeth II and 250 guests at the Mansion House for her official 80th birthday celebration.[2]

In June 2007 he became the main presenter on the BBC Scotland programme Landward.[3] He handed over to Dougie Vipond at the start of the 2009 series, but continues to present inserts for the show. In 1994 he went to the Isle of Islay and to other places in Scotland including Tobermory and Mull.

He is a fan of Glasgow Rangers Football Club.
